Would you like IFB with that?

Ever wonder what it looks like when you actually need fifteen folks on wireless lav mics and you still want to keep the ENG portability? Something like this. Thanks to our audio god, Nick Huston, for the pic from a Meat Men shoot on location.

First GoPro Use on ABNR

ABNR is usually pretty straight forward when it comes to camera requests: DSLRs and Sony EX1R's and EX3's. For the Macau shoot, however, we received a request for "something we can strap to Tony's head." Not altogether unusual, as we have had similar requests for this on one of our other shows, The Wild Within, but a first for the ABNR crew. Of course, we didn't hesitate to suggest the GoPro HD Hero -- small, lightweight, and comes with a rig or mount for just about anything you can possibly imagine. On The Wild Within, it was strapped to fishing poles, hunting dogs, guns, buffalo-hide rafts... so we were very much aware of its capabilities. Being strapped to someone's head as they jumped off the highest building in the world would be just another day on the job for a GoPro. And here it is doin' some serious work for Zach and Todd, ABNR's resident DPs:

Special thanks to ZPZ's one and only media guru, Helen Cho, for the stills. Check out her blog, IntoNoRes, for more behind-the-scenes of Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations.

Sony NEX-FS100

Sony's really crankin' out those large-sensor video cameras... Lucky us:

"$5,850 buys you a Super 35mm sensor that shoots 1080p60 content at up to 28Mbps to SD, Memory Stick (or an optional 128GB SSD) or output uncompressed 4:2:2 footage over HDMI, monitoring the lot on a swiveling 3.5-inch LCD display." [ENGADGET BLURB]

Homemade Jib Crane for GoPro!

A little shaky, but sweet idea!
